The building is conceived as two volumes separated by the main staircase, located within a four-storey void that acts as the true backbone of the library. Thanks to its transparency, this central space allows users to visually connect with the different areas of the building.
The ventilated façades were built using dry construction systems. Together with the protection of the large west-facing opening through motorised louvres controlled by sensors, this strategy prevents direct solar radiation from entering the library and helped the building achieve an energy rating of B.
